IKEA started its operation in Greece through FOURLIS Group of Companies, by creating HOUSEMARKET S.A in 1999. HOUSEMARKET aims at being the leading company in the retail market of home furnishing products in all countries it operates.
Our people are the basis of our development. Our mission for Human Resources is to create the environment where simple, straightforward people are able to develop both personally and professionally. In this way, we improve the everyday life for us and for our customers. HOUSE MARKET employs around 2.300 employees, who all share the 10 IKEA Values, which guide all our actions.
HOUSE MARKET S.A. brought ΙΚΕΑ to Greece and introduced to the Greek market a new philosophy, the basis of which is the offer of a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them. All IKEA products are packaged in flat packs, so that the customers will be able to take home today. The innovative IKEA furniture design allows the customers to assemble themselves the furniture, without any extra costs. IKEA catalogue is distributed every September in approximately 3.000.000 households in Athens, Thessaloniki and other cities. The IKEA catalogue aims at informing about new products, new and original ideas and solutions that everyone can find, when visiting IKEA store. The IKEA catalogue is a yearly promise that our prices will remain the same throughout the year.
In this way, IKEA implements the vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people.
IKEA currently operates 5 stores in Greece (2 in Athens, 1 in Thessaloniki, 1 in Larissa, 1 in Ioannina), 1 in Cyprus and 1 store in Sofia Bulgaria. They are all situated near major highways, offering the visitors an easy access to the store, while acting as a fun day out for the whole family, providing spacious parking, kids’ supervised area (Smaland), restaurant, exit café and the IKEA Swedish food market.
FOURLIS Group plans include the expansion and development of more IKEA stores, in order to satisfy the increasing demand of the Greek – and not only – market.
